The Maar-cross above the Schalkenmehren Maar is worth the climb. The view at 535 metres above sea level over the region is incredible and at the same time very decelerating.

Our cozy cafe (original Eifler Winkelhofanlage from the 19th century) is located directly on Eifelsteig, Eifeler Quellenpfad and Römerkanalwanderweg. We offer 70 seats inside and 60 seats on our terrace. All baked goods we produce ourselves from high quality raw materials. Original Eifel dishes such as the Eifelsteigtopf or "Suure Bonne unternander" can be found here, also homemade, for small appetites.

This Eifel view from the highest point in the district of Düren (566 m above sea level) and directly on the district border with Aachen offers you an impressive distant view to the west over the Hürtgen Forest into the Aachen region and as far as the Dutch province of Limburg, and to the north into the Jülich Börde and the Cologne Bay.
