Since 2008, the museum has been inviting young and old alike on a journey through 2,000 years of bathing culture. At the heart of the museum are the original Roman baths, a national monument. The baths from the 2nd century are the best-preserved facilities of their kind north of the Alps. The museum displays the remains of Roman bathing rooms, medieval hygiene rites, the first washbasins and toilets, curious inventions such as the bathing boat and rocking bathtub and the beginnings of spa tourism, with a special educational concept for children that appeals to different senses: the scent wall gives an impression of the smells of the time and a play table invites visitors to try out ancient games. An accompanying comic provides a playful introduction to history via multimedia stations.
