Monschau

The Höfen Weaving Museum is home to a piece of the industrial history of the northern Eifel: four of the last remaining looms from the time of the small weaving mills in the old district of Monschau. The contract weaving mills with locations in Höfen, Konzen and Roetgen, among others, worked mainly for cloth factories in the Aachen area until the 1970s.

The exhibition shows four looms and two winding machines, which are fully functional and will be demonstrated during the tour.

    In the middle of a small village in the North Eifel, in the middle of nature, away from all the hustle and bustle in an old farmhouse made of natural stone is the Woewwesch gallery. The former stable and hayloft has been expanded into two floors with an exhibition area of more than 120 square meters.

    Swister Turm

    The Swister Tower near Weilerswist is a remnant of the old parish and pilgrimage church of the vanished village of Swist on the Swisterberg (built c. 1100-1125). Foundation remains of the nave are attributed to the 9th century. Archaeological finds from Roman times indicate that the first Christian church was built over a Roman sanctuary. The St. James pilgrimage route passes directly by the tower.
