Aussichtspunkt über das Vichttal – Landschaft im Wandel

Stolberg

Open today
From the vantage point above the Vicht Valley, the view opens up to a vast, idyllic landscape. But it wasn't always like this: during World War II, front lines occasionally ran nearby.

Between 1942 and 1945, farms were damaged or destroyed here. The civilian population was also affected: combat actions, billeting, and supply shortages were part of everyday life. The place that now offers relaxation was shaped by war back then.

The view over the valley highlights the contrast between the past of a war zone and the present, where the green landscape again provides space for everyday life and recreation.

Traces of the past: Take a moment and think about how different this place was in the 1940s – marked by war, blockades, and destruction.
