The Heimbach reservoir offers a perfect combination of nature experience and relaxation - with hiking trails, pedal boat and canoe tours as well as a detour to the impressive art nouveau power station in Heimbach.
The volcanic activity on Munterley has had several eruptions, the most notable being the crater of Papenkaule. The volcanic crater is about 80 m wide and 20 m deep. Today, the Papenkaule is a top-class geo- and biotope.
The few walls of the once stately Ulmen Castle rise above the steep bank of the Ulmener Maar. Only parts of the upper castle have survived for posterity.
