Activities at Lake Freilingen
Visitors to Lake Freilingen will find everything their heart desires in their free time and can enjoy a wide range of activities on and in the water:
Windsurfing, diving, rowing, paddling, swimming (at your own risk), fishing for perch, pike or roach (fishing permits are available at reception), hiking and minigolf are all possible. There are spacious sunbathing lawns around the lake where locals and tourists can relax and sunbathe or have a picnic. A Nordic walking trail with information boards offers fans of this sport a pleasant walking route.
A kiosk with snacks provides refreshments.
Barbecue fans are also well catered for: 2 barbecue facilities (a slightly larger one that can hold approx. 100 people and a smaller one that can hold approx. 50 people) with electricity and water connections as well as a total of 3 swing barbecues can be hired from the municipality of Blankenheim.
The Eifel-Camp <http://www.eifel-camp.de/>, located directly on the lake, offers overnight accommodation for camping holidaymakers.
Facts, figures and location
Lake Freilingen is located south-east of Blankenheim on the border of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate in a valley and is surrounded by extensive forests and meadows.

Lake Freilingen is a reservoir that has existed since 1976 and is fed with fresh spring water. It was built for rainwater retention and tourist use.
Its water surface area is approx. 11h and its catchment area is around 5 km². The dam is 25 m high and approx. 500 m long. The greatest depth of the lake is approx. 10 m.
