On the Trails of the Railway from Gerolstein to Hillesheim - between Dohm and HillesheimThis year we will hike approximately 10 km along the former route between Dohm and Hillesheim. Along the way, Helmut Bell and Manfred Jehnen from the Jünkerath Railway Friends will share the history of the line. On the traces of the railway from Gerolstein to Hillesheim - between Dohm and Hillesheim - Community hike of the local groups Gerolstein and Hillesheim

On July 1, 1912, the era of post coaches ended for Hillesheim with the commissioning of the Gerolstein-Hillesheim railway line. After the Hillesheim viaduct was destroyed in World War II, the line was decommissioned. This year, the former route from Dohm to Hillesheim will be our approximately 10 km hiking route. Along the way, Helmut Bell and Manfred Jehnen from the Jünkerath railway friends will tell us about the history of the railway line. Numerous mostly decaying structures still bear witness to the use of the line.
