Where rock and water accompany you
The Eifelsteig connects Aachen and Trier over 313 kilometers and leads through some of the most impressive natural areas in the Eifel. Under the motto "Where rock and water accompany you", the premium long-distance hiking trail combines everything that characterizes the region: rustic forests, quiet stream valleys, striking rock formations and clear lakes. Right at the beginning, you experience vast moorland landscapes in the High Fens before the trail leads into the Eifel National Park, where shady mixed forests, the imposing Urft Dam and open plateaus characterize the landscape. South of this, the character of the route changes noticeably: the volcanic Eifel with its maars, dolomite cliffs and the wildly romantic Liesertal valley presents its very own, fascinating form of nature.
Those who hike the Eifelsteig experience the Eifel in all its facets: sometimes quiet and wide, sometimes rocky and spectacular, always close to nature and pristine. It is precisely this diversity that makes the trail so appealing and is a convincing argument for embarking on the journey between rock and water.
