Römerthermen Zülpich-Museum der Badekultur
The Trier Barbarathermes – the largest Roman bathing facility north of the AlpsLecture by Dr. Michael Dodt
The Trier Barbarathermen, built in the 2nd century AD, are the largest Roman bathing complex north of the Alps. They speak to the great significance of the city of Trier in Roman times, even before it was elevated to a residence for emperors.
Dr. Michael Dodt has been engaged in the research and restoration of the Barbarathermen for over 20 years. In his evening lecture, he reports on the monumental architecture and the splendid furnishings of the Trier bathing complex, the details of which have been revealed by archaeological excavations since the 19th century.
