Location, Course
The 313-km-long route starts in the historic city centre of Aachen / Kornelimünster and heads through the Eifel. The Eifelsteig leads into Europe's largest, still-living high moor, the Hohes Venn. Then, in stark contrast, come the old town of Monschau, the picturesque Rurtal, and the national park-primeval forest around the Urft dam. With its primal, adventurous nature, the Lieserpfad path truly enriches the hike. The exciting Eifelsteig passes through the Eifel National Park, the German-Belgian Hohes Venn - Eifel Nature Park, and the Vulkaneifel European Geopark, before reaching Trier, the oldest city in Germany.
